Geocache Description:

A short stroll on a gentle wooded slope in a near urban setting. The gentle slope has become a little overgrown and watching your step is a must. A rash of caches going awol has forced an upping of the camo effect so I'm upping the difficulty a half point Good Luck :D

Legend of the Aztec Double-Headed Serpent

Serpents occur throughout the mythology of Mesoamerica. The serpent
is associated with several Aztec deities including Quetzalcoatl
(Feathered Serpent), Xiuhcoatl (Fire Serpent) and Mixcoatl (Cloud
Serpent) or Coatlicue (She of the Serpent Skirt), the mother of the
Aztec god Huitzilopochtli. The ability of snakes to shed their skin
led to them being used to convey ideas of renewal and
transformation. Likewise the ability of many to move freely between
water, earth and the tree-tops helped underline their symbolic role
as intermediaries between the different layers of the cosmos
(underworld, earth and sky). Here in the garden you will find a
double headed serpent guarding the cache in one of its heads, you
will not need to disturb any flora to find this hidden serpent, he
lies on the slope in the shade of the large trees. You will find
him coiled ready to strike.

About this cache: We were dining nearby when we spotted this
urban oasis nearby, we scoped it out and decided it was a perfect
place for a cache. This container was one of the caches we got from
the Acadiana Gathering White Elephant cache swap in April. It was
created by rpicard2, hope you enjoy the cache and the
location.
