Geocaching.com now supports Twitter updates! In a new beta service rolled out this week, you can now automatically send updates to Twitter when you post Field Notes from GZ with your cell phone. If you use either TextMarks or the geocaching iPhone application, all you have to do is register your Twitter information at geocaching.com using this link and all of your mobile field notes will Tweet! Cool, right?
In honor of this technological breakthrough, we are taking geo-Twittering one step further and have placed the first geocache that Twitters on its own! To follow Twitter Cache's exploits just log on to your own Twitter account and follow geoaddisonbr. Whenever anyone logs the cache, Twitter Cache will Tweet about it and it will show up right in your very own Twitter feed. Cool, right?
Two notes of some import...
- Please be very careful when retrieving the cache, and try to return it as you found it
- Please don't give too much away in your logs!
Edited to add... I took this photo with my iPhone when originally placing the cache - an entire family of actual Tweeters was too serendipitous to ignore! (Please note, the cache has since been moved and is now about 90 feet away from these little guys. Coordinates have been updated.)
Bring your own pen, and enjoy the only cache that Tweets!
