A small plastic box located in Lake Pleasant, New York, in the Southern Adirondacks.
This is a small cache located behind the Airdville Cemetery. The Historical Society of Lake Pleasant & Speculator wish to say thank you to the Town of Lake Pleasant for giving them special permission for alowing them to place this cache here.

History:
In the late Nineteenth Century, a man named Dave Aird bought 1,000 acres of land that stretched from Fish Mountian road to Rudeston (Now known as Piseco). He sold land to many people and by 1890 the area was called Airdville.
Peter Weaver (A merchant that moved to Airdville from the Town of Wells) bought a quarter of an acre from a lumber manufacturer, Asa Aird and his wife Rhoda, on April 20, 1900. Peter Weaver was a trustee of school district 4#, and the land was used to build a schoolhouse.
The schoolhouse was located where Route 8 now is in front of the Airdville Cemetery. The schoolhouse had many teachers, like Jessie Dunning, daughter of Amos Dunning and Jane A. McCarty who teached in 1914.
Airdville did make it's mark in Hamilton County history. Peter Weaver was the first in Hamilton County to purchase a private telephone line in the early 1900s. The line ran from Mountian View Inn (Located down the road west from Geocache GCYRH3) to Calls Store (Was Located near the County Building) In 1913 the telephone line also ran to Rudeston (Piseco). Today Airdville in now in the western part of Lake Pleasant.
