Fucking ist ein kleiner Ort im Bezirk Braunau am Inn, und ein Teil der Gemeinde Tarsdorf.
Im Jahre 2001 hatte Fucking 91 Einwohner.
Der Name Fucking existiert seit 1070 und geht auf einen Mann namens Focko zurück, der im 6. Jahrhundert lebte. Die Endung -ing heißt in diesem Fall Leute oder Menschen. Fucking bedeutet also „Ort von Fockos Leuten“.
Sehenswert sind wohl die Ortstafeln, welche auch gerne gestohlen werden. Die US-Amerikaner, für die der Ortsname mehr als 'ungewöhnlich' ist, und nicht selten mit Bussen für ein Foto anreisen, und beweisen mit diesem Video ihren Humor.

Und gleichzeitig bitte ich um Verzeihung bei den Bewohnern des Dorf, welche sehr sehr freundlich sind und wohl kein Problem mit ihrem Ortsnamen haben. Aber ist doch mehr als außergewöhnlich, oder? :-)

Fucking is a small village in the district Braunau on the Inn (the Inn being a river) and is part of Tarsdorf township. In 2001, the population of Fucking was 91.
The name Fucking can be traced back to the year 1070 and even further, to a man named Focko who lived in the 6th century. The suffix "-ing" refers to persons or people, in this case, and Fucking therefore means "the place of Focko's people".
The city limits signs are popular sights in their own right and are frequently stolen.
Visitors from the United States, who consider the name of the village more than just "unusual", often arrive in large numbers for a photo opportunity and have a good laugh over videos like this one.

Well hidden, close to the village. Enjoy this rather amusing location! I'd also like to apologise to the villagers, who are more than just friendly and do not seem to consider the name of their village to be a problem of any kind. But it really is extraordinary, isn't it? :-)
