The 30.5 mile Green Circle is a hiking and biking trail that
loops around the Stevens Point area. It meanders through forests,
over wetlands, and along rivers, recalling the days of huge
pineries, pioneer settlements, and the lore of the Wisconsin and
Plover Rivers.
The Green Circle connects Stevens Point’s Bukolt, Zenoff,
Pfiffner, Plover River and Iverson Parks, Plover’s Lake Pacawa
Park, the Village of Whiting Park , the UW-Stevens Point Schmeeckle
Reserve, and Izaak Walton League land.
The trail has 14 connecting segments. All urban residents are
within 10 minutes of the trail system and yet, more than 80% of the
Green Circle winds through secluded natural areas.
UPDATE: The reason for the terrain is because of the
distance. The trail itself is a very easy trail to maneuver. Heck,
our son uses a one speed BMX. Helmets are optional. There are a few
small hills but basically the terrain is fairly level. If you would
like more information about the trail please check out the
Green Circle
website.
