This is an easy cache located at the back of the Richland Township
Park. The cache is just off the walking path around the
park.
Gull Prairie was the name of the prairie on which Richland was
originally settled around 1830. Of course, the prairie no longer
exists, but I wanted to hide a cache in the Richland Township Park
and since the park has alot of wide open space, I thought the Gull
Prairie name fit. There were two caches that used to be hidden in
this park, but they no longer exist. We thought such a nice park
needed a cache hidden there. Please enjoy your walk around the
path. It's 1.5 miles long if you choose to walk the whole thing or
you can park closer to the back and have a shorter jaunt across the
field. I recommend walking the path though, it's a nice walk.
PLEASE NOTE: I did see some angry looking ants near the cache. They
were red - not sure if they're fire ants, I'm not biologist, but
just be aware. Keep an eye on any little ones or pets you may have
along.
If you're interested in the history of the Richland, I encourage
you to stop into the library located on the town square. They have
a very good book on the history of Richland. At the moment, I don't
recall the name, but the librarian will be able to point you to it.
Did you know there was a bank robbery where the robber tried to
escape via train? That was back when Richland had a train tracks
...
Congrats to cneguy for the FTF!
