Geocache Description:

This a small cache is located at an old wayside which is now part of the Nokomis park system. If you are stopping while traveling on 51, be aware that the park has no facilities. There are a few grills and some benches. It is along the bearskin creek so bring a pole and try to catch a trout.

You are looking for a small container. It is a baby formula can covered in camo duck tape. It is located close to the parking area but you will have to climb a steep hill.

The name of the cache is in reference to the origin of the name Nokomis. In Ojibiwa legend, Nokomis is the grandmother of Hiawatha. The passanger train that ran through the Nokomis area was called the Hiawatha and the trial that runs from Nokomis to Tomahawk (located on the old rail corridor) is called the Hiawatha Trial.

By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,
Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.
Dark behind it rose the forest.
