This handicap accessible cache is located in William Steiger Park.
Born in Oshkosh, William A. Steiger was a member of the House of Representatives from 1967 until his sudden death of a heart attack at age 40, in 1978.
Representative Steiger authored a few Bills that we are still familiar with:
establishing OSHA in 1970;
the Clean Lakes Bill, protecting the Great Lakes water quality (remember Lake Erie?);
the Manpower Act; and
the Steiger Amendment, which reduced capital gains tax.
In 1969, he employed an intern named Dick Cheney!
My cousin, Maureen, was his personal secretary. When I visited Washington, D.C. in 1977, I had the privelage of dining with Bill and Maureen in the Congressional Lunch Room, beneath the Capitol Building. A well respected man who died too soon.
You will be seeking a camo pill bottle. There is a nice view of the new bridge on Wisconsin Street, as you can stroll or roll on the paved walkway along the Fox River.
Congratulations to Kkamke for find # 100!
