Temp. Cacher's Revenge II Traditional Geocache
Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Located near the Ephraim entrance of Peninsula State Park
In the spring of
2006, the Wisconsin Geocaching Association sponsored an weekend
geocaching event at Peninsula State Park. As one of the geocachers
who lives nearby, I was a volunteer who helped hide temporary
caches, which were to be placed specifically for this event, and
then re-collected when the event was over.
However, two caches
out of (roughly) seventy five were not recovered at the time. One
of them, "Temp Cacher's Revenge," was found two years later and is
now a standard cache located near the Fish Creek enterance to the
park. This cache is the other "lost" cache, finally re-discovered
after being hidden, undisturbed, for over three years. Yes, this
area is actually part of Peninsula State Park, and was part of the
golf course eons ago. You can still see one of the old tee-offs and
a paved walking path at the top of Holland Road.
With the WGA moving
away from temporary caches for events, I thought it only fitting
that this former temporary cache be resurrected as a full-fledged
standard cache. It is the original container, hidden in the
original spot. That way, those who missed logging it as a WGA
campout temporary cache will now be able to log it as a regular
cache. If you did log it during the campout, move on, you can only
log it once!
Please make sure you
press the ends of the container together tightly to get a good
seal. Although somewhat weather-resistant, the container is not
waterproof, so return it to its somewhat sheltered position. The
proper Geocache Placement Notification form has been filed with the
park office. It is a smaller container, so only small trade items
(think the size of a golf ball or smaller) will work.
