Geocache Description:

The place where I want to take you is quite untypical for a landlubber like me J I only discovered it thanks to observing the skills of my friend, yachtsman Milos. Okay, let’s sit in a boat and trust the Adriatic waves so we can see one interesting geological formation. The alpinotype character of Southern Europe was formed by a rock-folding process and consists, besides the Alps, of the Carpathian and Southern European mountain ranges. The typical material is marl, sandstone and limestone. The latter type also forms the coastal rock of Montenegro. This rugged coastline is characterized by numerous karst formations, including many caves varying in size. Some of them are very popular with tourists, others, much more attractive to the adventurous eye, have not yet been discovered by the public. Sailing Northwest of the port of Bar, you can see a gigantic coastal rock approximately east of the given coordinates. Our captain drew my attention to an interesting feature. There is a noticeable dark stripe running across the rock – it is volcanic ash from Mount Etna. The period of formation of the volcano and these rocks is approximately the same; therefore the ash and other small particles fell here and became one of the geological layers. Probably as a result of erosion you can now see the ash from Etna in Montenegro. To claim this cache you must: 1) visit the coords given and take a photo of your self or of your GPS with the rock in the background. Enclose the picture in your log as a BLACK &WHITE!!! 2) send an e-mail to: geoservis@email.cz with English or Czech answers to the following questions: a. What colour is the afore-mentioned stripe? b. How long is the stripe (approximately, in metres to the nearest ten)? c. How many nautical miles did the ash fly to get here?
