This cache is part of a series intended to showcase
Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads (W.R.R.). Wisconsin Legislature
established the Rustic Roads program in 1973 to preserve what
remains of Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled roads.
These caches are usually hidden in the right of way at a spot of
notable beauty with no bushwhacking required. Please be respectful
of private property, protected lands, and the overall history of
the area. Take your time, mind your speed, and most of all…
enjoy your journey along the road less traveled.
This particular cache is a camo'd matchstick container hidden at
the end of one section of Rustic Road 106, a partially paved,
partially gravel road also known as North Point, South Point and
West Point roads. Total length is 7.2 miles.
R-106 has rolling hills and wonderful farm vistas. Parts of the
route are adjacent to the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge. The Bud
Cook Hiking Trail is accessible from West Point Road and has
viewing scopes to see wildlife in the marsh. The southern end of
West Point Road also provides access to the U.S. Fish &
Wildlife Educational Barn, where visitors can learn more about the
Horicon National Wildlife Refuge.
Friendly tips: My caches are usually always camo'd to fit in with
the surroundings in some way, not with duct tape. Also, while in
the area be sure to stop off and take a quick hike down the Bud
Cook Hiking Trail (off West Point Rd.) to find 'Bud Cook Bonanza'
(GC9E82).
Please take care with this cache and be sure to replace it where
and how you found it. Happy Hunting!
