Take a short hike on the North Country Trail (NCT) to find the cache hidden in a camouflaged trail mix (no pun intended) container, with swag and a TB to start.. The NCT trail is built and maintained by volunteers. There’s a campsite along this part of the 4600 mile NCT. For information about the NCT go to: northcountrytrail.org
The log sided building near the entrance to the trail was the old Highland Town Hall for many years. The new town hall and fire department building nearby offers thirsty hikers water on the back side of the building. The NCT association provided a grant to provide this water source.
The Highland Town transfer station is manned by the “famous” JFK
who lays claim to the “World’s largest ball of Twine” at his home. In front of JFK’s “office” at the transfer station is his “Junior Ball of Twine”. Stop and chat with JFK and read his signage.
The Geocache Notification form has been submitted to the land manager of the Brule River State Forest Department of Natural Resources Headquarters of the Wisconsin DNR.
