This 7 stage multi-cache is located along the trail of The Gulf Unique Area. The stages are a bit unique just like the landscape. Five of the stages are small, one is very large, and the final is an ammo box. This trail will bring you to the U.S./Canada border. Please do not cross over the border. All of the stages are located in the U.S.
The Gulf
From State Route 11 take Cannon Corners Road 4.3 miles and turn left onto the Rock Road. Drive 1.6 miles on the Rock Road and you will see a parking area on the right. For our neighbors to the north it is 1.8 miles from the Cannon Corners border crossing to the Rock Road. The Rock Road is a well maintained dirt road. There is plenty of parking at the listed parking coordinates.
This is a long hike. It is 2.2 miles one way to the end of this trail. After searching for all the stages and the final you will have 5 miles round trip under your belt. There are a few hills but for the most part it's fairly flat. This trail has some very rocky sections. It also has a fair share of muddy spots so wear some good hiking boots.
All of the stages, including the final are very winter friendly. They are located in close proximity to the main trail. The tree cover, especially the pine and evergreen trees, is amazing. It was very difficult to get good readings at all the stages. When approaching ground zero, slow down and let the GPS'r "settle in".
Watch your gps'r on the way to stage 5. There are not many trails in New York State that pass the 45th parallel, but this one does. See if you can get a picture of your gps'r at that location. N45 00.000
The trail ends at Monument 688. If you log benchmarks, this one is PG2575 If your gps'r has an elevation readout you can check it here. The elevation at the monument is 934 feet above sea level.
