This cache is part of a series intended to showcase Wisconsin’s
Rustic Roads (W.R.R.). Wisconsin Legislature established the Rustic
Roads program in 1973 to preserve what remains of Wisconsin's
scenic, lightly traveled roads.
These caches are usually hidden in the right of way at a spot of
notable beauty with no bushwhacking required. Please be respectful
of private property, protected lands, and the overall history of
the area. Take your time, mind your speed, and most of all… enjoy
your journey along the road less traveled.
This particular cache is a matchstick container hidden along
Rustic Road 53, a paved road made up of portions of Garrity,
McCabe, Greiner, and Bodde Roads within Outagamie County. It begins
with the overpass of U.S. Highway 41 over Garrity Road and
continues south and west until its intersection with County Highway
JJ as Bodde Road. Total length is 4.1 miles.
R53 is located in one of the richest agricultural areas in the Fox
Valley. Visitors will find a double arch bridge, an old school
house which serves as the town hall, a century farm, an old stone
silo, Apple Creek, and a resource conservation area abundant with
wildlife. Construction of this road dates back to 1857.
Please take care with retrieving and replacing the cache to save
the experience for the next cacher. Happy hunting!
