This CITO will have us
removing a diffrent kind of trash. We will be working to rid
portions of Sterne's Woods and Fen of invasive/agressive trees and
shrubs in an attempt to restore this park to its former beauty.
Tools and gloves will be provided, and the Park District will have
staff members on site to help with the removal of some of the
larger trees.
The Park District
will also introduce their new "Find Treasure In Parks" passport
program. This program features 12 caches located throughout the 40
parks owned by the Crystal Lake Park District. Within each of these
caches, there is a unique sticker or stamp that can be collected in
a really cool "passport". The first 100 cachers to collect eight of
the twelve stickers/stamps will be given an unactivated geocoin
featuring Main Beach, the oldest park in the
District.
Come on out for a day of
service and fun as we take some time to gather around a fire, help
the environment, eat free burritos(The Park District got a
sponsorship. Thanks Jessica!), win some prizes, and all the other
good times you expect at an event cache.
Please include the number
of people you intend to bring so we can have enough food for all.
If you think you will be there, that's good enough as we would
rather have too much than not enough!

November 23:
The Park District
received their geocoins today and they look great!!! This means the
passport program is ready to go. The new caches are scheduled to be
published on the evening of this event. The coords
for all of the new caches will be handed out to all who show up. If
everything goes as planned, all participating cachers will be given
the chance to try for FTF honors on the five new caches before they
are published.
