This series of caches reflects some of Dell Rapid's history. Detailed information on each cache site can be found in "From Dell Rapids Attic" by Dale Neighbert, available at the Dell Rapids Library.
Dell Rapids was incorporated in 1879 and became a city in 1889. The city water works was completed in 1894. The wooden tank (now gone) at the top of the quartzite tower could hold 2,500 gallons.
