Geocache Description:

Steam trains need lots of water so along the tracks and at stations there were regular overhead water tanks, to replenish water supplies to the trains.

These large tanks had billboard qualities about then and often tea and other drink companies painted their signs on them to advertise to thirsty passengers.
Water was pumped from the railway dam across the road up to the overhead tank, which still carries advertising slogans and designs from the period. The steam locomotives were easily filled with water via the trunk (spout) on one side. The tank has a capacity of 25 000 gallons or 115 000 litres and was built from cast iron plates bolted together. This tank replaces the original from 1879, but is identical to, the 1879 tank.
