Geocache Description:

An Event Cache to celebrate the founding of Boy Scouting in the America.

In 1909, Chicago publisher W. D. Boyce was visiting London, where he encountered the Unknown Scout. Boyce had become lost when a boy came to his aid and helped him find his destination. When Boyce tried to tip him, the boy explained that he was a Boy Scout and was simply doing his daily good turn. Soon after Boyce’s return to the U.S., he incorporated the Boy Scouts of America on February 8, 1910.

One hundred years later on February 8, 2010, the Boy Scouts of America begin a yearlong celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of their founding and the more than 110 million Americans who have been members of the Boy Scouts of America.

Join us for a local event on the anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America. The event will be held in the parking lot of the:

Jet Potter Service Center
3414 Hillsboro Pike
Nashville, TN 37215

The event is informal with table top demonstrations of various caches, the opportunity to discover various trackables, the opportunity to discover the council Pillars of Scouting travel bugs, and a group photo. There are several caches on and near the council property that can be found and logged. Come join us for a kick-off of a year of Scouting celebrations with this event

This event is part of the Get In The Game program, a collaborative effort of the Boy Scouts of America and Geocaching.com, a Groundspeak project.
