Let's all get together and celebrate that Geocaching began 10
years ago, May 3rd, 2000!
Event will be 11:00am to 4:00pm.
Cost= $2.00 per person required by The Eastern Iowa Observatory and
Learning Center.
Everyone is invited no matter where you are from.
Weather permitting, we may get to do some solar viewing through the
H-Alpha scopes!
This entire weekend commemorates things that happened to start
geocoaching on its way to where it is today.
May 1st, 2000: The announcement was made that selective
availability was being turned off
May 2nd, 2000: Selective availability was turned off
May 3rd, 2000: The first geocache (stash) was placed and
found
The theme is LUAU please come dressed festively and accordingly,
there will be Lei's and flower hair clips available at the
event!
Everyone please bring a dish to share and table service for
yourselves, I am providing Teriyaki pulled pork and buns for
sandwiches.
This will be held inside of the observatory building which is
temperature controlled and has modern facilities.
We are planning to get a group together to go to Sky Watcher Gorge
cache and hopefully The Siege!, weather permitting, and the creek
isn't too badly flooded.
There will be an anniversary commemorative geocoin available for
$10 let me know if you are interested in one or more. One side will
have the IGO colors (green, yellow, blue, black, and white), the
other side will be red, white, and blue (colors of the US and Iowa
flags). Most colors are transparent.
We will have a silent auction to benefit

12:15- 1:00 Eat and silent auction
1:00- 1:30 Second silent auction if needed, caching if not
1:00-4:00 solar viewing and caching
