Geocache Description:

A walk at the venetians and turkish fountains (krines) of Heraklion.

One of the first care of the Venetians was channeling water to the thirsty city of Candia.This was achieved by construction of reservoirs and wells. Severals fountains survived until today in the city.
And the Turks also felt they needed to build charitable fountains /sempil/ for the city residents.During the hunt and walk they should be visited.
The multicache is divided in six stages. At every stage you will find a clue for the next. At every fountain there is a sign with the history of each of them. ( Greek-English). Most of the times the clues are there.

At the first fountain you have to find the name of it. The number of the letters of the english name is the clue A.
2. N 35°20.(A-3)97 E 025°07.8A0
How many columns you can see at the fountain? This is clue B. At this fountain the sign with it’s history is on the main road.
3. N 35°20.34B E 025°07.99(7-B)
The most famous fountain in the city. How many animals you see on the fountain? This is clue C. At close distance there is another fountain which is located at the NW corner of the venetian building facing the first fountain.
4.N 35°20.1(5+C)2 E 025°08.(4-C)11
You find two fountains here. One venetian and one turkish(sempili). The venetian is the most beatiful of all in the city, the turkish (which was a charity fountain) is now a Kafeneio. You find when the turkish fountain was built, you add the numbers of the year until you find a single number. This is the clue D.
5. N 35°20.24(5-D) E 025°08.21(3+D)
This fountain is by a famous gate. How many trees are on it? This is the clue E.
6. N 35°20.(6-E)96 E 025°08.(6-E)32
Here you are at the last old fountain of the city. To continue your search you have to find the name of the fountain. The number of the letters each word of the name is the clues F and G.
7. N 35°20.48(G+1) E 025°08.24F
Now you are at the final destination. From here you see a modern fountain which was built last year.
