Geocache Description:

A five mile circular (and in parts very muddy) walk starting and finishing at one of the famous

"Seven Wonders of Wales"

"Overton Yews"

It is said that in the late 18th century an anonymous scribe wrote the following rhyme which first listed the Seven Wonders of Wales...

Pistyll Rhaeadr and Wrexham steeple,
Snowdon's mountain without its people,
Overton yew trees, St Winefride's Well,
Llangollen Bridge and Gresford bells.

Little more is known except to say that all are within North Wales and that not everyone agrees that these represent Wales' most impressive landmarks.

This is a pleasant walk, mostly across undulating meadowland with extensive views over the surrounding countryside and the lower Dee Valley.
The route, like all others in Overton, is fully waymarked.
Follow the directional yellow arrows to find the next stile or gate.
This route is not suitable for wheelchairs, buggies or small children. Dogs are allowed but it is only fair to tell you that you will encounter numerous (not very canine friendly) stiles en route
You can (and are advised to) download the full walk description and map of the route from here

FOLLOW THE COUNTRYSIDE CODE RESPECT – PROTECT – ENJOY • Be Safe – Plan ahead and follow any signs • Leave gates and property as you find them • Protect plants and animals and take your litter home • Keep dogs under close control • Consider other people

From the car park adjacent to Overton church, turn right (onto Church Road) and then left at the crossroads onto the main road (A539 Wrexham -Whitchurch). Immediately cross this road and go along the signposted gravel drive. Walk through the garden of Electricity House keeping the house to your right and enter the field over a low stile.
