How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This cache is a two part multi-stage cache. There is a special tool required in order to complete this cache, you will need a Wi-Fi device (laptop computer, cell phone, etc.) to get the final stage coordinates.

I hope that cachers without the necessary special equipment will try to accompany those who do have the proper techie tools. For those without the necessary equipment, message me and maybe I can arrange a time to meet you at the first stage. What I DON'T want is for those who have found the cache to simply give the coordinates to others. What fun is that?

The final stage is located along the LaCrosse-Sparta bike trail between West Salem and Bangor. You will either be able to complete this by walking or biking.

At the final stage, there is ABSOLUTELY no need to go anywhere near the railroad tracks that run parallel to the bike trail.

Here are the steps to complete this multi-stage cache. Drive to the coordinates listed on this page. Once here you will be able to see the wireless network that is broadcasting the final stage coordinates. You will also need to look at the numbers on the mailbox post to decode the A, B, and C in the coordinates that are being broadcast on the Wi-Fi.

A= 1st digit of address
B= 2nd digit of address
C= 3rd digit of address

From here you will have the coordinates that will take you to the final container location. There is no writing instrument in the cache so be sure to bring your own.

The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to James Moorhead of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
