Geocache Description:

This cache has been set for The Langspoon Event 2010, to be fair to others please don’t log until 3rd April please.

Let Druidess Angelina lead you to a mysterious place, a mystical place ..... magical Dunino Den.

Parking as for Dunino ~ The Bridges.

Walk down the track between the church wall and the hedge down to the woods, and continue roughly in this direction, following the main path (straight towards the gorge) which will take you directly to the basin - a hollowed rock pool.

According to folklore this pool was used by Druid priests to make human sacrifices to appease their gods. The blood was said to collect in the pool, and the broken bodies were flung into the burn below. However, it is more likely that the pool was seen as a natural sacred place. There is a hollowed out footprint in the stone next to the pool, and this would suggest an place of ancient inauguration for early kings.

Now it is time to leave the real world behind. Descend the steps to the left and enter the ethereal world of the Den.

Watch your footing as these steep steps have been hewn out of the stone. Touch the circular Celtic Knot carved into the rock on the left hand side as you near the bottom of the steps. This will give you luck for the task ahead.

Look at the next rock promontory on the left - there is a small cave on its left hand side and sometimes coins are wedged into the weird circular erosions near it. Maybe you should leave one too - it might act as an offering to the caching sprites! This promontory may at one time have been used as a natural pulpit - there is a small circular post hole on its flat top surface which may have held a cross.

Walk on to the final promontory and look carefully - can you see an enormous Celtic cross carving on the cliff face? Go around the corner of this rock and see if you can find the Celtic trinity carving up on this side of the rock.

Now you are ready to find the cache.

Look to the sky and listen to the crows calling. I wonder if they will see fit to help you today?

All of the above completely plagiarised from AB's terrific cache - Den Descent which alas is no more.
