Langkawi, a cluster of 99 islands covering an area of 10,000 hectares, has been declared a geopark by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) on June 1st, 2007.
With the recognition, Langkawi joined the Global Geoparks network of 52 geoparks worldwide.
This earthcache is located near the peak of Gunung Raja round about 800 Meters above sea level. The Gunung Raja is the highest point at the island of Langkawi and the biggest mountain in the Langkawi Geoforest Park. Surrounded by 220 million years old rainforest. Home to ingenious wildlife such as the Giant Golden Hornbill, Dustyleaf Monkey, Mouse Deer, exotic butterflies and Rhinocherous Beetle.
There are a beautiful street up to the summit. You have a terrific panorama view and, when you make quite stops, you can see a lot of wild animals. Enjoy it and drive slowly!
The cache is a simply earthcache. The coordinates will show you at a vantage point a plate with some information. For a log you have to answer the following questions. A picture of you near the location will be nice, but it is only optional.
1. Answer this three questions:
a) How old is the Singa Formation?
b) What contains the Gunung Raja Granite?
c) The Gunung Raja is one of the best spots for viewing the natural scenic beauty of the entire of Langkawi. What includes the view additionally?
