Hallo,
hier also nun der zweite Cache der Serie: Vögel unserer Region.
Und da der Kleiber, so der deutsche Name von Sitta Europaea, ein wahrer Baumläufer ist der auch in Bäumen brütet, versteckt sich dieser Cache eben in des Kleibers Wohnstube.
Keine Sorge, ich habe keinen Kleiber noch einen anderen Vogel seines Wohnsitzes beraubt, bei der Wahl der Location wurde eine unbewohnte Stelle gewählt. Sucht nach gelben Reflektoren ! etwas abseits vom Weg. Nicht gefunden? Dann vielleicht beim anderen Reflektor?

Meine Bitte an Euch:
Da Ihr in der Wohnstube vieler Tiere und Pflanzen unterwegs seid, nehmt Rücksicht und benutzt die Wege bis ihr nahe an den Koordinaten seid. Der Cache liegt ca. 15 bis 20 m abseits des Wegs.
Anbei einige Informationen zum Kleiber, der übrigens der Vogel des Jahres 2006 ist:
Der Name rührt daher, dass der Kleiber den Eingang von Bruthöhlen anderer Vögel, wie zum Beispiel die von Spechten, mit Lehm verklebt, um sie selbst zu nutzen. Der Begriff „Kleiber“ stammt aus dem Mittelhoch-deutschen und bezeichnete Handwerker, die Lehmwände erstellten.
Kleiber bauen den Eingang vom Nest gerade so groß, dass sie durchpassen, um die Höhle vor dem Zugriff von Mardern oder Krähen zu schützen. Der Kleiber ist ein Standvogel. Er ist flink und lebhaft, klettert ruckartig und geschickt an Stämmen und Zweigen entlang. Im Gegensatz zum Baumläufer kann er kopfüber klettern.

This night cache is the second of a series of Caches dedicated to the birds of Germany.
It is dedicated to the Bird of the Year: 2006 in Germany: The Nuthatch
Learn about the breeding behaviour of the Nuthatch and you will know where to look for the cache. (The place was, of course, chosen to have no negative impact on nature). Watch out for yellow reflectors abit off side the walk way. Please bring a pen !
Points to consider:
Do not disturb nature more than necessary! Please stay on the footpath unless you are close to the cache. The cache is about 5m to 10 m away from the footpath.
The Nuthatch is the only bird that can walk a tree downwards. Characterised by large heads, short tails, and powerful bills and feet, nuthatches advertise their territory using loud, simple songs. Most species exhibit grey or bluish upperparts and a black eye stripe.
Nuthatches are omnivorous, eating mostly insects, nuts and seeds. They forage for insects hidden in or under bark by climbing along tree trunks and branches, sometimes upside down. They forage within their territories when breeding, but may join mixed feeding flocks at other times. Their habit of wedging a large food item in a crevice and then hacking at it with their strong bills gives this group its English name.
All nuthatches nest in cavities; except for the two species of rock nuthatches, all use tree holes, making a simple cup lined with soft materials on which to rest eggs. In some species the lining consists of small woody objects such as bark flakes and seed husks, while in others it includes the moss, grass, hair and feathers typical of passerine birds
