Geocache Description:

This cache is located just off a trail at Camp Agawam, Moraine Trails Council. Most of the walking is on gravel road, open field or nature trail. The terrain is basically level. (The council has given permission for this cache.)

Camp Agawam is located near Moraine State Park and McConnell's Mill State Park. It is bordered by Slippery Rock Creek. The Camp is owned and run by Moraine Trails Council, BSA (www.morainetrails.org). It has recently be completely refitted to serve as a Cub Scout camp and training center. (The Cub Scout part of the construction work will become obvious as you follow the road and trail to the cache.)
On Route 422 just West of the intersection with Interstate 79 and a little further west of Slippery Rock Creek, you will see a sign for Camp Agawam on Young Road. Follow Young Road north and take a right on Frew Mill Road to the camp.

When looking for this cache, remember that "a Scout is courteous". Please park in the parking lot (N 40 59.508, W 80 11.225) and walk to the cache. Before you start your walk, please check in at the Ranger's house just east of the parking lot, or on weekends and during the camping season, please check in at the administration cabin just above the parking lot, next to the pool. If no one is home when you knock, please watch for the Ranger or Campmaster during your walk and introduce yourself. Please be courteous to groups that may be camping at one or more of the cabins and tent sites. There is no need to cross a campsite to find the cache.

The cleanest route to the initial cache is to take the road to the west from the parking lot and follow it to the open field. (Watch out for pirates, knights and cowboys!) As you pass the fort and start into the woods, stay to your right at the fork. Very quickly you will see a trail to your right. Starting using your GPS...

The first container is a quart-size plastic container containing the coordinates of the final cache.

Let me know your impressions of the camp. I will be especially interested to hear if you are or were involved in Scouting! After you find the cache, feel free to take a walk around the rest of the camp.
