Above the Salt Creek Sno-Park. Do not enter the 200 foot railroad easement above the cache. About 4430 feet above sea level
At about 10 PM on January 19, 2008, after a massive snowfall, over 30 acres on the north side of Cougar Mountain broke loose in a landslide/mudslide. The Union Pacific Railroad mainline between Crescent Lake and Oakridge Oregon was closed until repairs were completed on May 3, 2008. You can walk up to the cache from the existing road which was improved by UPRR and their contractors who did an incredible job in the very harsh winter of 2008
