Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Elk River's crown jewel- it's largest and most beautiful park: the 427 acre Woodland Trails Regional Park. The land varies a great deal within the park from mature wooded uplands to open wetlands. A small creek runs through it on the way to Lake Orono. It's very easy walking most of the way. That doesn't mean it's an easy find though. ;-)

In the winter bring your cross-country skis, in the summer bring your rollerblades, bike or archery equipment. There has been a lot of new things added to the park in the last couple of years. There is now an archery range, plenty of sheltered picnic tables, and a terrific kids play area called Glacier Ridge Nature Play Area that is awesome! The park is also located next to the Elk River Golf Course - a fun and challenging golf experience! From Elk River, head north on County Hwy. 1 (Elk River Rd) past Meadowvale School, turn right just past the golf course where the sign says "Woodland Trails". Park in the parking lot and pick up a trail map. Head in the direction of the cache on the paved trail for about 0.3 mi. Note: In the winter, they close the paved trails to walkers - only cross-country skiers allowed. But, there is a trail leaving the parking lot designed just for walkers that ends up at the same place (bridge) as the paved trail - so no worries! You'll come to a bridge at marker post H, continue on the paved trail (watch out for skiers and give them the right of way) a short distance further. From there it's a short walk to the prize. A small container holds the goods. After you find it, use your map and check out the rest of the park, it's a great spot! If you visit in the summer, make sure you bring bug repellent!! Owners note: Just wanted to thank all the geocachers out there that have visited this cache through the years, and thank you to those that have given favorite points. I appreciate you all! It was originally placed on Feb. 13, 2001, currently the second oldest in the state! NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT POST PHOTOS OF THE CACHE THAT MAY GIVE AWAY THE LOCATION! THANK YOU!!
