Boundary Obelisk at north Lantau at Tai O, Lantau.
This is a small obelisk set up in 1902 to state the north
boundary of Lantau, after British “BORROWED” Lantau
Island from China in 1898 under “The Convention for the
Extension of Hong Kong Territory”

THIS STONE IS IN LONGITUDE 113°52’0” E. FIXED BY LIEUT
AND COMR F.M. LEAKE R.N. AND THE OFFICERS OF H.M.S. BRAMBLE. FROM
HERE THE BOUNDARY LINE EXTENDS DUE NORTH UNTIL IT MEETS THE
PARALLEL OF THE SOUTHERN EXTREMITY OF THE NAM - TAU PENINSULA.
SOUTHWARD THE BOUNDARY FOLLOWS THE WESTERN SHORE OF LANTAO
ISLAND.
THIS STONE IS PLACED 380 FEET ABOVE H.W. MARK FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PROTECTING IT FROM POSSIBLE INROADS OF THE SEA.
A cache sits near the Boundary Obelisk at north Lantau, within 5
meters. It is not hided behind the Obelisk, don't try, most of the
plants there have thorns.
