Highway Star
Located at the I-90 east-bound rest area just to the west of Blue Earth, Minnesota, this is a little break from the rigors of long-distance interstate driving.
Interstate 90 crosses the country from coast to coast, Boston to Seattle. It is the longest interstate hghway in the nation. The highway between the two rest areas here was the last section to be completed, with a ceremony marking the completion on September 23, 1978.
As of 10/9/2022 this I-90 rest area cache is no longer wheelchair accessible or winter-friendly. Container is a preform containing a log, please ensure cache is replaced as found.
If you've got a few minutes to spare you can follow the paved trail a short distance both directions for three more caches, Golden Spike and Gimme Shelter, .3 and .4 miles to the northwest respectively, and Green Giant, .2 miles to the southeast.
It's easy to get here from the west-bound rest area too, just follow the paved trail that connects the two rest areas, running underneath the interstate along the river.
