Geocache Description:

Discover the geocoin treasure locked in our vault!

We’ve traveled far and wide to trade coins and stories with our fellow geocachers and we want to share them with you.

The listed coordinates are for Eartha – you’ll see her in the lobby.

The Vault

The Team Garmin Coin Vault, located in the lobby of Garmin Yarmouth headquarters, holds Team Garmin's geocoins and those we have collected all over the United States and Canada. Most of the coins are activated and trackable, so use the list of tracking numbers to discover them! (Tip: Photograph the list - it's long!) The cache log book is located next to the coin vault.

Visiting

There is plenty of parking available. Pets are not allowed in the building but they are welcome in the parking lot. The building is open during normal business hours. Note that the building is not open on the weekends.

The Case

The wood used in the geocoin case comes from Herbie, which, at 217 years, was the oldest American Elm tree in New England. The tree—known as Herbie since the 1950s—stood on the corner of East Main Street and Yankee Drive in Yarmouth. Herbie succumbed to Dutch Elm disease in January 2010. Herbie was taken care of by Yarmouth’s volunteer tree warden, Frank Knight, for many years.

The Herbie Project is an effort to replace Herbie and other trees in Yarmouth by creating a Tree Trust. More can be read at herbieproject.org.

The case was made by Robert O. Newton, a furniture maker from Yarmouth.
