Geocache Description:

This cache is for teaching the sport of geocaching. Specifically placed and chosen to be easy, simple, and a learning experience for anyone new to geocaching or trying to teach it.

By Definition: A maven is a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others. In the past communities relied on mavens to keep things going. Skills were bartered and shared and passed on from generation to generation. Each generation sopping up the experiences of the past like so many sponges in the sea. Times have changed. When we want to know something or get something done, these days instead of learning or relying on friends, neighbors, and relatives, we pay or we look it up online and read about how to do it, but really we know we can learn it better by being taught. We get the idea from reading, but the truth is, the quality and personal value is just not the same. Everything is so disposable and delegate-able.

The Maven's Club is a group of women offering to teach each other the things they know and to learn from each other. So as a Maven the Rainbowdykes were called upon to teach Geocaching. We were excited to teach our favorite hobby to interested folks. We like to have "teaching" caches - which is a cache that is easily placed in the ideal placement, easy to get to, with a simple hide that can be used as an example when teaching someone to Geocache.

So on the day that the Maven's had a meeting in Wildwood park we searched for all 4 of the available caches and upon looking at the map it was clear there was an open corner. So why not show them the entire sport and we can hide one too! A teaching cache just seemed obvious...

This is off the path on a side path but still not deep in the woods, not that Wildwood has "deep woods" - This cache is a plastic container that should be easy to find. Be sure to bring a teaching tool to trade with the other teaching swag.
