Geocache Description:

You need to bring 4 AA batteries to power the device hidden at the chosen co-ordinates. You will also need access to the internet to access the Certify Checker.

History:

The original cache was hidden on 26/06/2004 - GCJTJ1. The cache had to be reborn to enable the starting co-ordinates to be moved from the middle of the bay. Then sending the code became an additional logging requirement, so had to be converted to multi. However, the device and gameplay were the same.

Then, around November 2022, the device and ammo can were stolen. The current device is basically the same as the original with some minor enhancements and was replaced April 2023.

Note: The co-ordinates above are bogus.

Hi, my name is Eddie. Welcome to 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'. You have met the pre-qualifying conditions to make it this far. However, to make it to the last round, you need to answer one more question. Your response to this question will determine whether you are worthy to take the final challenge.

The question is:

The formula f(x) = 2x3 - 5x2 - 22x – 15 has three values of x where f(x) = 0. Find these three values and order them from smallest to largest. These values are A, B and C

Now calculate as follows:

U = 2 * ( A + C ) - 1
V = ( 2 * C ) + ( 4 * A ) + B
W = 2 * ( A + B ) + C
X = C – B
Y = ( C / 2 ) + A + B
Z = C + 2 * ( A – B )

The device you seek can be found at S 37° 57.UVW East 145° 18.XYZ

Once you have answered around 5 questions, as soon as you guess an incorrect answer, (or you win the $1,000,000), you will be given a code. Enter this code in the checker below.

The published co-ordinates are to the nearest car park.

Once you have the correct co-ordinates, it should be relatively easy to find (use the hints) - but can you go all the way?

The initial container is a plastic box containing the device, but there is no log and no swaps here.

The cache itself is a 2 litre Sistema container and is easy to find.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
