Kärnan är sannolikt daterad till början av 1300-talet, men redan på 1000-talet fanns det anläggningar på denna strategiskt betydelsefulla plats.
Staden Helsingborg är omnämnd på 1070-talet av Adam av Bremen.

The Kärnan Tower is dated to the early 1300, but allready sometime after 1000 there were buildings on site.
