Geocache Description:

This off-set cache can be found near to Minster Church , which is where the co-ordinates will take you.
Thanks to KernowCachers for allowing me to reopen this cache for the Church Micro series. Cache is not in the original location, and not in the nearby wall.

You will need to take some time to look around this charming church and collect the information for the clues below, before heading off to the nearby final location. The grounds are at their best during the Springtime. (The steps down to the church are a little steep and may be slippery in places so I wouldn't recommend this in the dark).

Minster – formerly Tolcane or Talkarn, meaning rock chapel or cell, is the Mother Church of Boscastle. A religious foundation has been on this site since about 500AD with the original church built in 1150 by William de Bottreaux whose father, Nicholas, had fought with William the Conqueror. The church was given to the Benedictine Order of Monks in Anjou in his native France . The monks lived in the priory until about 1402 when King Henry IV closed all ‘foreign' monasteries. The Priory was demolished in early 1800.

It is rumoured that the ghosts of the monks can be seen walking along the path although they weren't to be seen when we visited!

The church was renovated in 1507, and then again in 1869 after the roof collapsed. Flood damage caused by the storm in August 2004 has been repaired and the church re-opened on the first anniversary of the flood.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
