This cache is located in Cove Hollow of Shawnee National Forest. Cove Hollow is a loop trail just off the River to River trail. Park at the R to R trailhead parking lot on Trigg Tower Rd. The cache is about a mile from the parking area. This section of R to R trail is not too exciting, but you'll be rewarded at Cove Hollow. This hike would be good for tick season because the trails are mostly wide and not brushy. Cove Hollow is a box canyon with many large rock formations and also has a rock wall used by rappellers. You will be sharing the trail with horse riders so please yield to them when approached. As a horse rider myself, I can advise you to step off the trail when horses approach, but do not hide, stay in plain sight, and say something, like..."how ya doin" to put the horse at ease.
Now the reason for the title of my cache: There is a rock formation in this hollow that looks like the profile of late night talk show host Jay Leno. The cache is not in sight of Jay Leno rock because it's a well visited area and I thought there would be too many muggles around, but if you walk just a bit further on the trail after finding the cache you can see the Jay Leno rock. For those of you who do not know who Jay Leno is or what he looks like, you'll just have to look at other rocks for thrills. If you stand at N 37 29.959 W 088 41.710 and look at the rock wall in front of you, scan your eyes and look slightly to the left for a rock outcrop and you might see the profile of Jay. It's not a huge rock, but bigger than his real head. Please mention in your log if you could see it or not.
From this point you can continue on the loop of Cove Hollow and it will return to the R to R trail, or you can backtrack back to the parking area.
I hope my GPS readings are accurate in all that rock, if everyone seems to have difficulty in finding the cache, I'll return and get a better reading.
The cache is very near the trail so please rehide it well after your find.
