Visit Piper Park in downtown Nanaimo to find this camo'd cache. This cache contains only a logbook so please bring your own writing stick.
Every weekend I spend a lot of time exploring downtown Nanaimo while ChickadeeRose attends a local dance studio. This little park was a pleasant and interesting discovery. Because we haven't lived in Nanaimo very long, we don't know much about this park but this is what I have learned so far:
- The old Nanaimo District Museum building resides here and there is much debate about what will happen to this structure.
- Because the park is high on a rocky bluff, the views are amazing. There are benches to enjoy these views.
- There are many cool historic mining related artifacts here including the Old Miner's Cottage and Locomotive #19.
- The murals and petroglyphs are definitely worth checking out.
- I wonder if the park has questionable visitors (hence the pants I found hanging on the historic artifact) so I have not activated the kid friendly attribute.
No matter what is decided for the old museum building, I really hope the park and its historical artifacts remain.
