Terminology

The 2011 TRFTHOI - (the 2011 Trackable Race For The Heck Of It) A trackable race that will last for a year and begins at this event. Details for this race are available on the 2011 TRFTHOI webpage.

Cache Mob (CASH mawb) n. A large group of Geocachers that gather in a predetermined location, perform a Geocaching related action, and then quickly disperse. Comparable to a flash mob that muggles like to attend.

Details

Date: Sunday March 20, 2011
Time: 12:00PM - 12:20PM
Where: At the posted co-ordinates

Agenda

Prior to 12:00pm: Show up early but don’t be too obvious. Stay in the area of ground zero and pretend to be a muggle. There are usually a lot of muggles in the area, so it should not be too hard to blend in.

12:00: We will set up a table.

From 12:00 – 12:15: Come to the table, drop off your trackable racer (if you are entering the race) and pick up a couple of racers to take with you to place in a cache. You do not have to pickup or drop off any trackable tags if you do not want to.

12:15 - 12:20: Get your pre-printed list of trackable IDs. Also, we will be hiding some goodies in the park before the event, so get your list of prize coordinates if you want to try to find any prizes after the event. We will also get a couple of group shots to post here later!

12:21 We will be done. Pick up your stuff, become a muggle again, and head out to enjoy the rest of your day.

Who can Attend?

All are welcome. You don’t have to enter the race or participate in the race. You can take a trackable to hide in a cache even if you don’t enter the race. As long as you have some fun, that is what counts.

What is this all about?

A Flash Mob is a large group of people who gather at a predetermined location, perform some brief action, and then quickly disperse. We decided to call this a cache mob because it sounded cool!

Why an event?

The 2011 TRFTHOI has entries from all over and we are needing help getting these trackable tags out into caches.

Where?

This event will be held in the area of the gatehouse in Mines Falls Park. The coordinates listed will bring you to this area

More info

1) We will have bottled water available at the event.
2) Bring a trackable racer if you want to enter the race. The race details are listed on the 2011 TRFTHOI webpage.
3) Because of the limited time of the flash mob event, we will have all of the trackable racer codes that we have so far typed up and photocopied so they will not have to be written down at the event. If you are bringing a racer and/or any trackables for discovery, please try to have the codes written down and copies made for others. This is not required and you are more than welcome to exchange numbers at the event, but please keep in mind that we will disperse at 12:21, so there isn’t a lot of time.
4) This is an OUTSIDE cache mob event. Dress accordingly. The event will be held rain or shine.
5) Its not required that you take a racer with you when you leave, but it would be appreciated. If you would like to take more than one, that would be great. You do not have to enter the race to take a trackable. All that we ask is that you place any trackables into a cache no later than 2 weeks after the event. Also, if possible try to put it in a cache that has a lot of visitors.

Hope to see you there!
