There will be a souvenir awarded for attending a WWFM VIII
event. The souvenir will be retroactively awarded to all people who
have logged an "attended" log within 2 weeks of the event date.
This will only be done one time, so make sure you log your
attendance right away.
The plan: Orchestrated by Podcacher. On Saturday, June
4th, 2011 at Noon (Central Time Zone), 214 events in 25 Countries
happening at the same time to bring together geocachers and
introduce others to geocaching.
This will be a rain, hail or shine event, it is after all Iowa
so there's no point in trying to predict what the weather will
do.
Schedule:
Any time before Noon - Stay Away from ground zero. This should be easy to do
here. There's plenty to look at. There are restaurants and the
library (open at 9am) nearby.
Noon - At exactly 12:00 PM as determined by the clock on
your GPS arrive at ground zero. A blue bucket will be placed at the
designated coordinates to signify the start of the event.
12:00 pm – 12:10 pm - 30 Goody bags will be handed
out containing:
- A marker - find it, sign the log and add a piece of art.
When signing, make sure to include the number of people represented
by that name (for the official statistics).
- The meal - it’s in there, but know that if you
come hungry you will be leaving hungry too.
- Small prize - each bag has ONE small prize in it which
could be a WWFM VIII geocoin, a geotag, an IGO pathtag, the rights
to claim FTF on the event, a ready to hide cache container
etc.
- A noise maker - needed for the group photo and to
attract some attention – use at will.
Please only one goody bag per group (even if you have
separate caching names). There are extra noise makers available for
additional people in your group, just let me know how many you
need.
12:10 pm - Assemble on the hill for the group picture to
submit to the World Wide Event don’t forget the noise
maker!!!
12:14 pm - One Minute left to get your name on the log
and say your goodbyes.
12:15 pm - ITS OVER !! The bucket will be picked up and
everyone must leave "Ground Zero". If you missed signing the log,
you missed the event.
If everything goes right we will have lots of people converging
on one spot for a 15 minute geocaching event and then disappearing.
Should be fun and very confusing to any observing muggles.
Remember Please Practice CITO for the event.
See you There !!!
