This is a Los Padres National Forest Event that we will be
joining. The group will carpool to Piedra Blanca Trailhead in Rose
Valley. Start planning your carpools now.
Update on the project from the Ranger
The project includes: brushing, campsite rehab at Piedra Blanca
Camp and "redefining" the trail in the Sespe River bed that washed
out this past winter. The total hike is 5 miles with a total of
eight crossings. You may choose to bring tevas or water shoes for
the crossings or rock hop with walking poles. Bring a daypack with
lunch, water, sunscreen, hat, gloves, eye protection, camera and
sturdy shoes or hiking boots. As for tools and trashbags, they will
be provided along with drinks at the end of the day.
The forecast for Ventura and Ojai is 20% chance of rain.
Forecast for Piedra Blanca Creek/Sespe River area is: Mostly sunny
with a high near 72. South wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as
high as 15 mph. www.noaa.gov is an excellent site for weather
info.
Rain will cancel the event. I will change my outgoing office
phone message that morning by 6:30am if the event is cancelled.
