Panagia Drosiani
This beautifull church is standing near the small traditional village of Moni, in the island of Naxos.
This is an early Cristian church, one of the most ancient church of the island., dating back to 4th-6th century.
The church is actually a complex of four churches. It is of Byzantine style and all areas, both internally and externally in the shape of the cross.
The interior is decorated with beautifull wall painting.

Older villagers carry that although originally selected another place for the building of the church the picture of the Virgin Mary went every night in this place.
The name "Drosiani" is called that came from the residents of the village in a very long period of drought that asked the Virgin Mary with prayers and offerings for rain so that don't dry the trees and the gardens and live the residents of the village who are farmers.

 Η Παναγία η Δροσιανή είναι ένα Βυζαντινό μοναστήρι νότια του χωριού Μονή, που είναι από τα αρχαιότερα των Βαλκανίων (4ος ή 6ος αιώνας). Από το Μοναστήρι αυτό το μεγαλύτερο μέρος του ήταν θαμμένο και μόλις τη δεκαετία του 70 έγιναν οι ανασκαφές από την αρχαιολογική υπηρεσία και αποκαλύφθηκε. Μέχρι τότε το μόνο μέρος που ήταν ορατό ήταν η κυρίως εκκλησία που ήταν και η πλέον πρόσφατη. Η εκκλησία είναι στην ουσία ένα σύμπλεγμα από τέσσερις εκκλησίες. Είναι Βυζαντινού ρυθμού και όλοι οι χώροι του, εσωτερικά και εξωτερικά είναι σε σχήμα σταυρού.


Οι παλαιότεροι κάτοικοι του χωριού μεταφέρουν ότι αν και αρχικά είχε επιλεγεί άλλο μέρος για το κτίσιμο της εκκλησιάς η εικόνα της Παναγίας μεταφερόταν κάθε βράδυ στο συγκεκριμένο μέρος. Η ονομασία «Δροσιανή» εικάζεται ότι προήλθε από το ότι οι κάτοικοι του χωριού σε μια πολύ μεγάλη περίοδο ανομβρίας απευθύνθηκαν στην Παναγία με λειτουργίες και τάματα για να την παρακαλέσουν να βρέξει έτσι ώστε να μην ξεραθούν τα δέντρα και οι μπαξέδες και να ζήσουν οι κάτοικοι που κατ' εξοχήν είναι αγρότες.
