Geocache Description:

This AGT-Warren stamp #25 is located in State Game Lands 143.

There is a wonderful cache in this game lands called Baker's Rocks. Years ago, we walked to Baker's Rocks on a Sunday afternoon. On our way to Baker's Rocks one of our companions noticed a large grouping of American Chestnut trees along the trail. Since then, we've seen a few larger solitary chestnut trees in the ANF, but this is a large stand. The tallest tree is about 25 feet. These chestnuts will eventually die from the blight, but this stand is a memory of the giants that once stood here. If you continue to Baker's rocks along this road, you will be able to spot the chestnuts at the side of the road as you make the last turn toward Baker's Rocks. Your walk to the cache will be about 0.2 miles. There are many wildflowers along the trail, and we have seen orchids in this gamelands.

You can park at a State Game Lands parking area and walking a road until near the cache. To reach the parking area, you will need to turn on Moore Lane from Route 27. Additional Waypoints have been added for Moore Lane and parking. Please remember to follow Game Lands rules and wear suitable clothing during hunting season.
