How Geocaching Works

Quick P&G. Log only so BYOP. This is a high-muggle location from 8:00-5:00 pm so if you plan to cache here during that time, use extreme stealth. Saturday's are also rather high-muggle and you should be a-okay on Sunday. Parking is available within just a few feet of the cache. Please place cache back exactly as you found it.
This is part of Team_Schnauzer's SCHS (Story County High School) Cache Series dedicated to the seven school districts of Story County.
Welcome to Nevada! This is Cub Country and also the home base for Team_Schnauzer. Two of the four members of our team are graduates from NHS. We are the purple and the gold and our mascot is the Cubs. There is quite a lot of community spirit surrounding our school. Take our south water tower for example. It is painted white with the huge Cub pawprint on the side. It is visible when you enter the town from US 30 Exit 158 (19th Street). Just look to the NW and it dominates the landscape.
Nevada is the second largest school district in the county and the community is the county seat. Shortly after the town's founding in 1856, Nevada made a bid to be the state capital of Iowa, since it is located directly in the middle. It was of course unsuccessful. Nevada was also offered a choice between Iowa State University and the County Seat. We chose the county seat and nearby Ames got the university.
Our school district is known for having a strong tradition of soccer and recently have been known for having a very good volleyball program. The boys' soccer team was crowned the 2000 Class 1A state champions.
Thank you for geocaching in Nevada and Story County!
