The cache presents a popular swimming place called Fatijärvi in Meri-Pori. The cache is NOT in the birdhouse.
Fatijärven pinta-ala 2,6 ha ja rantaviivan pituus 0,6 km. Se on toinen jäljellä olevista Yyterin alueen harjujärvistä. Uimarannat ovat hiekkapohjaisia ja melko äkkisyviä. Porin kaupungin ympäristötoimisto on selvittänyt järven tilaa, ongelmia ja niiden taustoja sekä kunnostusmahdollisuuksia vuosina 2002-2003. Järvellä tehtiin mm. vesinäytteenottoa, kasvillisuusinventointi, koekalastus ja pohjasedimenttianalyysi.
Suosituin uimaanlähtökohta on hieman kauempana kätköstä, jotta jästivaara on saatu pienemmäksi. Suosituimmalla uimapaikalla on myös kaksi köyttä, joista voi puuhun kiipeämällä heilauttaa itsensä veteen. Loppukesästä Fatijärvessä esiintyy poikkeuksetta sinilevää, joten ennen uimaan pulahtamista kannattaa varmistaa sinilevätilanne.
Kätkön lähestyminen käy helpoiten Fatijärventien kautta, ja auto kannattaa jättää Saunalantielle.
Fatijärvis surface area is 2.6 hectares and shoreline length 0.6 km. It is one of the remaining lakes in ridges in Yyteri area. The swimming beaches of Fatijärvi have a sandy bottom and they get deep fast.
Poris Environmental Office has tested the condition of the lake and then estimated the problems and their backgrounds. They also estimated opportunities for restoration in 2002-2003. They made water sampling, vegetation inventory and exploratory fishing for example.
The most popular swimming place is a little further from the cache, so that smuggles won’t (probably)see you. The most popular swimming place has two ropes, so you can climb up a tree and swing yourself into the water. In late summer there occur blue-green algae in Fatijärvi, so please ensure before swimming that there are no algae in water.
It is easy to approach the cache through Fatijärventie. Please leave your car in Saunalantie area.
