This is a pullout with a spectacular view of the surrounding area. The valley below where you are standing is partially made of lava from the flows that came out of the Earth's thin crust here MANY years ago creating the " Malpais" or Badlands. Farther down the road is another great spot, La Ventana, which is a naturally formed rock " window". Also on this road is Lava Falls & I suggest taking that trail since you will be walking on the lava flow itself during this self guided trail.
Take care while climbing up the bluffs if the wind is blowing or if snow might be falling, since it could be quite TREACHEROUS. There is a geodetic survey marker here if you are at the above coords.
