Geocache Description:

A cache by tormodel and gjerjs
Edøy/Edøya is a part of Smøla municipality, and is only 7,5 sq. km., but it still boasts a church from 1190, The Guri centre, a tractor museum(!), a rich political and cultural history, and it is where you arrive by ferry from Tustna.

Edøya er en del av Smøla kommune og byr på Edøy kirke, rikt fiskeliv, politisk og kulturell historie, Gurisenteret, et traktormuseum(!) og Smølas viktigste fergeleie.

ENGLISH:
Edøy church is a stone church from 1190 and stems from the time when Norway was governed from Trondheim. You cabn also find the Guri centre (link), where you can see exhibits from the Viking era in this region and experience the outdoor play "Lady Guri of Edøy". At Edøy there are also several good places to fish from, ferry terminal and a stop for the express boat from Trondheim to Kristiansund.

Edøy was an independent municipality until 1837. The small island had at this time 2300 inhabitants.
