Geocache Description:

Aripine was once a Mormon farming community, located about 13 miles southeast of Heber.

This cache is located at a crossroads intersection in what remains of the community of Aripine. The pioneers tried to dry farm in the area but were unsuccessful.

According to Will C. Barnes’ book, “Arizona Place Names”, the location was also known as Sundown Ranch, which was actually located about 2 miles to the southeast.

You can reach Aripine from the south via SR 260, or from the north via SR 277, using gravel roads. There are signs, "Aripine", on both highways. The route from the south actually uses what once was State Route 160, the original highway between Payson and Show Low, which was decommissioned in 1969 when SR 260 was completed.

The cache container is a plastic cigar tube which contains a log and pencil, no room for trades.
