The beginning of this hike has several steep climbs over uneven terrain.
drive out Ostersund Rd. to GPS 49 45.680 / 94 43.585
Park at the side of the road and scout out a step washout section on the right side of the road, almost looks like stairs going up. The "steps" will take you up to a tunnel (HAVE A FLASHLIGHT) that goes under the tracks. After the tunnel, follow the tracks to the other side of the rock cuts and follow the trail to the right into the bush. The trail is clearly marked. (If you prefer not to walk on the tracks, there is a service road immediately across and down a rough climb. You can walk parallel to the tracks until you find a path on your left hand side that will take you back up and over the tracks to the main trial.
We did this hike with a 3 and 4 year old in less than an hour and two the adults wore flip flops. I would encourage proper footwear.
After you find the cache, keep going another 10-15 minutes or so and you will come to Boyne Lake. Be sure to bring swimming trunks. There is a beautiful sand beach.
