Catherine Labouré Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

West Texas Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If the owner wishes to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future (not to exceed 15 days from the date of this entry), just contact me (by e-mail), and assuming it still meets the current Guidelines, I will consider unarchiving this cache.

Please be advised this is not a guarantee that this geocache will be unarchived. Many factors will go into my decision. The most important of which is how you responded to geocachers who tried to communicate with you regarding the problem(s) with this geocache hide and how you communicated with me, the West Texas Reviewer.

Geocache Description:

This cache was hidden just after nightfall, and boy, is this area spooky in the dark! Bring a flashlight and some courage, or play it safe and go during the day. It's not hard to spot, but the container may not be what you expect. Contains small items for trade, plus a (new with tags) necklace for the FTF.

BEHIND THE NAME: Usually, when a person claims to have been given a divine mission in a supernatural visions, that person either is a fraud or is suffering delusions of grandeur. In either case, their behavior is bold and flamboyant. If that person instead continues to lead a quiet life as an unknown, her credibility goes up.

Perhaps that helped St. Catherine Labouré popularize a small trinket called the Miraculous Medal. Its spread in the early 19th century was positively viral, after this nun claimed to receive instructions for the medal from the Virgin Mary, yet continued in every way to follow her humble life of obedience to her superiors. This cache is no more grandiose than she was, so be careful not to overlook it.
