Na extremidade noroeste da ilha, freguesia dos Rosais, concelho de Velas, localiza-se a Reserva Florestal de Recreio das Sete Fontes. Data do início dos anos sessenta a arborização deste antigo baldio, tendo sido criados na década seguinte o viveiro florestal e a área de recreio e lazer, apresentando um traçado peculiar constituído por arruamentos e diversas veredas que desembocam em pequenos lagos.
O visitante poderá passar um dia ao ar livre em comunhão com a natureza, desfrutando sobretudo da tranquilidade desta Reserva Florestal de Recreio. Sendo os grandes motivos de interesse o miradouro do Pico da Velha e do Ferrã Afonso, com magnificas vistas panorâmicas, respectivamente, sobre as ilhas vizinhas e costa norte da ilha de São Jorge. Anualmente a Freguesia de Rosais mobiliza-se para que a população usufrua da Reserva, num dos dias da Festa de Nossa Senhora do Rosário.

At the northwest tip of the island (Rosais parish, Velas district) lies the Nature Reserve & Recreation Park of Sete Fontes. It was in the 1960s that this former waste land was afforested; in the following decade the forest nursery and the recreation area were created; the unusual design of the park comprises streets and paths leading to small ponds.
Visitors have the privilege of being close to Nature and enjoy the outdoors tranquillity of this Reserve. The most important points are the Pico da Velha and the Ferrã Afonso panoramic viewpoints, which offer breathtaking views of the neighbouring islands and of the north coast of São Jorge. Every year the inhabitants of the Rosais parish celebrate one of the Festival days of Nossa Senhora do Rosário at the Reserve.
